I’m Shérine, the founder of Naqshé — a slow, independent fashion label rooted in memory, geometry, and meaning.
I was born and raised in Syria, surrounded by stone courtyards, patterned tiles, and a deep sense of heritage. My father, a French architect, spent his life restoring ancient citadels and houses. My mother is a Syrian calligraphy artist whose brushstrokes taught me that beauty is a form of reverence. Their dedication to art and preservation shaped everything I believe about design.
After finishing my Architecture studies, I had to leave Syria at 23. I lived, studied and worked across Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, and now Switzerland, where I live with my husband and our two little children. Wherever I’ve gone, I’ve carried with me the intricate balance of form and soul found in Islamic geometry.
Naqshé means engraving — a mark, a memory. For me, it’s the echo of carved stone in Syrian courtyards, reinterpreted for today. I started with t-shirts: wearable canvases that carry this geometry into the everyday. Each piece is produced on-demand and as locally as possible — minimizing waste, avoiding mass production, and standing firmly against genocide-linked supply chains. It’s a slow fashion approach grounded in ethics and intention.
Naqshé is my way of honouring where I come from, while creating space for something new — quiet, powerful, and free.
